So, what do you think? Should the U. S. keep producing pennies? Do some research about the cost to make a penny, is it more than its value? Do we still need pennies, what are they worth to us? If the government decided not to produce any more pennies, how would that affect the economy?

Dear Mrs.Parsons,
I think that the us goverment should stop making pennies. First of all they cost about 1.2 cents to make a penny. So after you make 5 pennies you have spent 6 cents. And if you are making millions of pennies a day it can REALLY add up! I personaly think that the only reason they keep making pennies is a buisness sceem. Because $4.99 sounds a lot less expensive than $5.00. We should be spending the goverments money on important things not buisness sceems.

It could affect us because now we would not be able to say that a heads up penny is good luck!! Yeah I don't really think that making pennies is worth it because then we wouldn't have to deal with so many pennies. Since everything now is like 7.99 or something and 99 cents. It wouldn't make sence to pay more money for a penny to make it. I aree with lily they should be using that money for more important things. Ir would make giving back change a lot easier because we are only counting by fives, tens, or twenty-fives.

Dear Mrs. Parsons
I don't think the us should print pennies anymore, because it costs a lot to buy the copper to make a pennie. So by making pennies the us is wasting a lot of money on pennies because it costs more to make themthen they are worth. Also stores would have to stop making prices that were $1.99 because the us stoped making pennies. But not making pennies could have a bad resut to because it would be harder to make change in stores.

Everyone,
I think that it is more then it is worth making pennies. I think that because store's can easily just bring there value of there supply's up by 1 cent. We would think that wouldn't be fair because we would spend more money and that would add up. But our tax money goes towards the making of the pennies so maybe our tax rates would go down because they would not need that 1 million dollars (guess)a day to make pennies.
